This photo shows the building that is now the Boise Basin Museum, operated by the Idaho City Historical Foundation, Inc. since 1958, under a lease from the City of Idaho City. The building was constructed in 1867 by James Pinney. The left hand portion was a post office and the right hand portion was originally a book store and a circulating library. Beginning in 1873, part of the building was used as a meat market. From sometime in the 1880's until 1909, it was the post office again.
